MT NICHOLAS LODGE LOCATIONMt Nicholas Lodge is located on a 100,000 acre high country station midway between Queenstown and Glenorchy on the opposite side of the lake. This location borders the Southland and Central Otago Districts of the South Island Of New Zealand and consequently enjoys a variety of climatic conditions. Long summer days with temperatures climbing into the high 20’s (Celsius) are contrasted by winter lows of down to -4, but with low average rainfall, the air is clean, dry and very refreshing. With its close proximity to Fiordland, Queenstown and the Southern Regions of New Zealand, Mt. Nicholas is an ideal location to experience the diversity and grandeur that this area has to offer Getting here One of the great virtues of Mt. Nicholas Station is its relative remoteness. Despite being situated within view of Queenstown there is no direct road access, and yet it's a short distance across the lake by boat or by air. If flying into Queenstown, you will be met, personally, at the airport and can either enjoy a short helicopter flight directly to the lodge, or relax on the historic steamship “TSS Earnslaw” and enjoy the spectacular 40 minute cruise across Lake Wakatipu, followed by a short drive. If you are journeying around the South Island by private car, you also have the option of driving to Mt. Nicholas via the Mavora Lakes Districts (3.5 hours ex Queenstown, four wheel drive preferably). Location Map
